Riders represents a timeless cross section of people on the transit line, derived from personal observation and photographs taken over a period of time at various hours of day. These images were distilled into what the artist symbolizes as a typical SEPTA rider. The life-sized figures, created with laminated, powder coated aluminum, relate directly to the passengers waiting on the platform yet can be viewed by customers inside the train as well as pedestrians walking in the public concourse outside the station. Their dress and demeanor represent the variety of ages, professions, ethnicities, and religions of SEPTA riders.
