The idea of light in motion and the historic significance of rail travel are expressed with neon, stainless steel, Plexiglas and dichroic glass. These sculptural materials create a dynamic environment that welcomes not only daily riders, but casual passers-by and residents of the surrounding community. Six helical track sculptures sit atop the six towers above the entrance to the transportation center. During the day, the colors of the spiraling sculptures shift from the effects of sunlight on the dichroic glass. In the evening, recessed spotlights create a colorful light sculpture. In interior areas, undulating light sculptures, that again reference train tracks and emit a sequence of moving light, are suspended from the ceiling of the station.
