Beginning Monday, May 3, 2021, the turnstiles will go into service. Customers using these turnstiles will need a SEPTA Key Card or purchase a Quick Trip for travel AT ALL TIMES
The sale of prepaid paper tickets – single/10 trip – ended October 1, 2020. These tickets are valid for 180 days from the date stamped on the back of the ticket.
Beginning Friday, April 2, 2021, prepaid paper tickets will no longer be accepted for fare payment on board trains or at the Center City Station farelines

Beginning Monday, February 22, 2021, the turnstiles at 69th and Norristown Transportation Centers will be activated 7 days a week during the service day
Customers will be required to pay their fare at the turnstiles prior to boarding the Norristown High Speed Line
Key Cards and Quick Trips are available for sale at a Fare Kiosk at the Transportation Centers

Starting Friday, December 4, 2020, the barcode scanner to validate Amtrak and NJT tickets will go into service at select SEPTA Key ADA gates at the five Center City Regional Rail Stations.
Customers traveling with a valid/activated printed or electronic Amtrak or NJT ticket must use the barcode scanner to validate their fare when traveling to/from one of the five (5) SEPTA Center City Regional Rail Stations - Penn Medicine, 30th St, Suburban, Jefferson, and Temple.

Tap On/Tap Off
The fare for travel on Regional Rail is based on the zone you are riding to/from. With SEPTA Key, this means that you need to Open and Close your trip by tapping a Card at Validator. Platform validators are located at outlying stations and the Center City stations have turnstile Validators for entry/exit.

Dear SEPTA Key Customer:
During this challenging and unprecedented time, I want you to know that SEPTA has been laser-focused on operating a safe transportation system, both for the region's essential workers and our employees.
While it feels strange to discourage you from taking SEPTA and using your Key Card - unless you are an essential worker or traveling for an essential activity (food shopping, medical appointment) please stay home. If you must ride for these trips, please practice social distancing and be aware of our new back door boarding policy and capacity limits on buses and trolleys.
Partially used or unused Monthly March or April 2020 Passes and Weekly Passes for the Weeks of March 9th & March 16th
SEPTA is offering credits for unused and partially used passes valid during the following periods.
March Monthly, April Monthly and March 9th & 16th Weekly Passes on Key Cards
Customers who purchased the above passes on Key Cards will need to contact the SEPTA Key Call Center at 1-855-567-3782. (Number listed on the back of Key Card), and request that the pass product be removed. A pro-rated refund will be placed in their Travel Wallet, calculated from the last date the pass was used. The Call Center is available Mon-Fri 6:00am-8:00pm, and weekends 8:00am-6:00pm.
Starting Wednesday, March 4, 2020, all customers with SEPTA Key Cards and legacy Passes must Tap or Swipe to EXIT when using the designated turnstiles at Penn Medicine Station. This fare procedure will be in effect Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, February 26, 2020, all customers with SEPTA Key Cards and legacy Passes must Tap or Swipe to EXIT when using the designated turnstiles at Temple Station. This fare procedure will be in effect Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, February 19, 2020, all customers with SEPTA Key Cards and legacy Passes must Tap or Swipe to EXIT when using the designated turnstiles at Penn Medicine Station. This fare procedure will be in effect Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, February 5, 2020, all customers with SEPTA Key Cards and legacy Passes must Tap or Swipe to EXIT when using the designated turnstiles in Section A & B at Suburban Station. This fare procedure will be in effect Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

In addition to the B Section turnstiles already set for TAP/SWIPE TO EXIT, five (5) additional turnstiles, on this side of the station, will be activated starting Monday, January 27, 2020. Customers will have to Tap their Key Card or Swipe a Paper Pass to exit Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

An overview of the SEPTA Key program updates during the winter season.

Today, we only ask customers to tap their Key Card at the turnstile Validator when they enterthe system at University City, 30th Street, Suburban, Jefferson, and Temple Stations. When Key is fully rolled out on Regional Rail you will TAP the platform Validator at your home station or TAP with the Conductor on board the train to open your trip and TAP again at the turnstiles/platform Validator when you arrive at your destination to close your trip.

Starting Monday, January 13, 2020, all customers with SEPTA Key Cards and legacy Passes must Tap or Swipe to EXIT when using the designated turnstiles in Sections A&B at Jefferson Station. This fare procedure will be in effect Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

SEPTA has expanding the locations where you can buy a SEPTA Key Card and load/reload fare products to include outlying station
Regional Rail Ticket Offices.
Now that Weekly and Monthly TrailPasses, for all Zones, are available on a SEPTA Key Card and all Regional Rail Station Ticket Offices sell Key Cards and load/reload Passes, legacy TrailPasses will no longer be sold at SEPTA Sales locations.
*Does not apply to customers purchasing Monthly Parking Permits. Does not apply to customers purchasing legacy Monthly TrailPasses through ComPass, WageWorks, Wired Commute, or other corporate programs that currently send Monthly Passes directly to customers.
Card to Card Replacement is a new feature available on www.septakey.org for customers with a Registered SEPTA Key Card that is about to expire. It just takes a few clicks and all Passes and Travel Wallet balances will transfer to your new Card. If the new Card already has funds in the Travel Wallet, the amount that you transfer will be added to the existing balance. If you had Autoload set on the old Card your new Card will automatically be set to Autoload.
The SEPTA Key Corporate Program is expanding for companies and organizations that currently purchase SEPTA legacy Passes each month for their employees through the SEPTA COMPASS Program. SEPTA Key eliminates the bulk order and delivery process of Passes each month and makes it easier for your members to manage their Key accounts. With the introduction of SEPTA Key on Regional Rail, the following fare changes will go into effect, as outlined in the current Tariff No.154 Supplement No. 40:
Weekly and Monthly TransPasses will no longer be accepted for Weekday and Non-Holiday travel on the Airport Line beginning July 1st
A Zone 1 or higher Weekly or Monthly TrailPass will be required for regular Weekday travel
Zone 1 TrailPasses are available for purchase on a SEPTA Key Card. Customers who currently use a Key Card for travel on the Airport Regional Rail will only need to change their purchase to a Zone 1 TrailPass.
Earlier this year, we offered our customers the chance to try out the new SEPTAKey.org on a fully functional BETA site. Thank you to all of those who participated in and provided feedback during the BETA phase of the site's rollout.
On May 15, the full transition was made to the new SEPTAKey.org. Any customers who used the BETA site can now simply visit SEPTAKey.org to continue using SEPTA Key exactly as they do now.

Zone 1 & 2 customers will now have the opportunity to join the SEPTA Key Program when sales of SEPTA Key Cards open at the 4 Center City Regional Rail Sales Locations (Temple, Jefferson, Suburban Station, and 30th St.) The SEPTA Key Mobile Fare Kiosk Truck will also be out at select stations starting Monday, April 22. Ambassadors will be out with the truck to answer questions and help you register your new Key Card.

We have updated the SEPTAKey ecommerce website www.septakey.org with a modernized design and new features to make using SEPTAKey online easier than ever. Before we officially launch the site, we are offering customers the chance to try it out on a fully functional BETA site. You can be among the first to see and experience the new septakey.org by visiting beta.septakey.org and logging in as you normally would.

Zone 3 & 4 customers who don't yet have a Key Card now have the opportunity to join the future of fare payment when the sales of SEPTA Key Cards resumes at the Temple, Jefferson, Suburban Station, and 30th St. Regional Rail Sales Offices.

The SEPTA Key Weekend fare inspection process at Center City Regional Rail Stations expands to Jefferson Station beginning Saturday, January 12th.
