Fare Collection Changes at Center City Stations
Effective September 1, 2018

The turnstiles and ADA gates at Temple, Jefferson, Suburban, 30th St., and University City Stations are now fully operational and fare collection and fare validation at the turnstiles will be in effect Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at these stations.

  • Customers with legacy passes will swipe IN at the turnstiles
  • Zone 4 Early Adopters will tap their Key Card at the turnstile Validator to access the platform and trains
  • Fare Collection Ambassadors will punch tickets at the fareline
  • Cash will not be accepted - Customers must first purchase a Ticket at the Station Sales Office
  • Senior Citizens will pay as follows:
    With a SEPTA Key Card for travel to stations in Pennsylvania
    • Tap the Senior Key Card at the turnstile Validator and go through the fare line ($1.00 fare for travel to/from PA stations eliminated effective September 1st)
    With a SEPTA Key Card for travel to stations in NJ/DE
    • Purchase a half-fare ticket from the Sales Office, present your Key Card and Ticket to the Fare Collection Ambassador
    With a Driver's License or Non-Driver ID with a Magnetic Stripe for travel to stations in Pennsylvania
    • Swipe the License/Non-Driver ID at the turnstile swipe reader ($1.00 fare for travel to/from PA stations eliminated effective September 1st)
    With a Driver's License or Non-Driver ID with a Magnetic Stripe for travel to stations in NJ/DE
    • Purchase a half-fare ticket from the Sales Office, present your License/Non-Driver ID and Ticket to the Fare Collection Ambassador
  • Please remember PA issued paper Senior ID no longer valid for travel as of September 1st
  • Customers traveling with a Reduced Fare Key Card or PA issued paper Reduced Transit ID must purchase a ticket from the Sales Office - cash is not accepted at the fareline during the above days and times
  • On Weekdays after 8:00 p.m. and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and SEPTA Holidays, you will pay your fare to the Conductor on the train
